In Football it is easy to become as they ‘part of the furniture’ as a good reputation in football gets you picked in most cases especially if you’re not playing well, I have noticed this a lot in the England squad over the last few years.
Becoming ‘part of the furniture’ is bad as you should never let a player think they are in the squad no without great performances and sadly the England squad is picked on:
- Reputation, rather than current form
- Celebrity status
- ‘big club mentality’
To be in the England squad sometimes it seems that your current form doesn’t matter when the squad is picked as the ‘golden generation’ always seem to be there when some of them have failed to shine on the illustrious international stage.
