The International break means there is a lot less to choose from this Saturday, but there are some big prices on sides that I like the look of.
Swindon vs Rotherham
This is the early kick off and the teams couldn’t be in more different form. Swindon Town have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Manager Paolo Di Canio created a bit of a scene at the end of the Carling Cup match during midweek with recent signing Leon Clarke. Things aren’t much better on the pitch either. Swindon sit 21st in League Two with their only points coming from a 3-0 win against Crewe on opening day. Since then, they have lost their last four games and will not look forward to facing a Rotherham side who top the table. Rotherham remain unbeaten with four wins in five games and will be looking to take advantage of a Swindon side in disarray. It won’t be an easy victory though, Swindon have only lost their games by a goal this season but I reckon Rotherham’s price of 2.87 is too big not be sniffed at.
Morecambe vs Bradford
stands as caretaker manager Colin Cooper guided Bradford to their first win of the season in a 4-2 win against Barnet. Bradford were successful in overcoming Sheffield Wednesday in a penalty shootout in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in midweek. The cup exploits may be a disadvantage as they played some of their first team players and with the club changing gaffers, high flying Morecambe might fancy their chances. Morecambe are in a rich vein of form with four wins on the bounce, hitting the net nine times in those wins. Morecambe have the home advantage and 1.95 for the win seems reasonable.
Sandecja Nowy Sacz vs Piast Gliwice
We head to Poland and it’s top of the league Piast Gliwice who travel to second bottom Sandecja Nowy Sącz. Piast Gliwice are on a four game winning streak, scoring nine goals in the process. Sandecja Nowy Sącz have lost their last three games conceding seven. The away side are priced at 2.70.
Rwanda vs Ivory Coast
The last game I’ve chosen is in the African Cup of Nations. Ivory Coast have already qualified but I’m sure will want to maintain their 100% record. Didier Drogba will miss the game after the awful collision he suffered during Chelsea vs Norwich. Ivory Coast should still win with the likes of Kalou, Yaya Toure, Gradel, Tiote and Gervinho all announced in the 21 man squad. Ivory Coast to win outright is 2.50.
The prices are big enough that I’m playing it cautiously with doubles and trebles on all the selections with a small stake on each.
