It was goals galore for the three teams that formed the treble yesterday. A staggering total of 19 goals flashed past the oppositions goalkeeper. It was reminiscent of a training match or playing Fifa on the easiest level possible.
Man City fielded a strong side which included Silva, Ageuro, Dzeko and debutant Nasri. Mancini has changed his mindset and approach to away games and needs to if he is to win the title. Man City could have easily sat back after half time but the team continued to push forward and this makes betting on them even more promising. Pre match, City were priced at 2.37 which was too big. The -1 was 4.60 and if they are anywhere near this price in future away games, playing this as a single over the season I think you would make a profit. As for Spurs, they are in heaps of trouble. Players being linked with other clubs is the source of trouble Harry Redknapp suggests. An unhappy dressing room and injured players have contributed to them suffering defeats from both Manchester sides. However, they did manage to trouble Hart and once the transfer window closes, I expect Spurs to bounce back.
Spend the money Arsene!
This must be the cry from every Arsenal fan. Yet Arsene sticks to his thrifty ways. A supposed £80m to spend, he’s running out of time and if he’s not careful, the window will shut in his face which would be catastrophic. He should have brought in a new central defender over the summer with Samba and Cahill most likely favoured. Vermaelen missed the game yesterday and it was apparent the defence are not up to scratch as many of us already knew. He still needs to replace the creative midfielders in Nasri and Fabregas as Arsenal looked bereft of ideas and United capitalised. United showed another sterling display at Old Trafford as it has become a fortress once again. It’s obvious morale is high and they are playing sexy football at the minute and teams in the Premier League must be shaking at the thought of facing either Manchester side while they are in such form.
Real send a warning message
Real Madrid showcased wave after wave of attacking talent to beat a hapless Zaragoza side who couldn’t swim against the current in the end. Each Real Madrid attack featured five players at the top of their game – Marcelo, Di Maria, Ozil, Benzema and Ronaldo. Even their bench had stars who came on after the damage was done in Kaka and Higuain. The forgotten man Kaka rolled back the clock as he produced a wonderful finish into the top corner. It’s hard to see them not winning against any team except Barcelona and the traders are aware of this with them being priced at 1.28 pre match. The -2 was 2.87 and this is probably the way to go for future matches.
